Girls Inc. of Pinellas Receives $85,000 Grant from the Schoen Foundation In the Midst of Non-Profit Downturns
Girls Inc. of Pinellas received a generous $85,000 in grant funding from the Schoen Foundation. This grant would have a weighty impact on the organization’s ability to continue to offer its services at any time; but, in this climate the value of this grant is truly magnified. The impact of COVID-19 on the nonprofit community has been unprecedented. It has affected the capacity and sustainability of every nonprofit — from education to the environment, affordable housing to mental health services, animal welfare to the arts — very few organizations have emerged unscathed.Read More

Continually reaching out to the community to support their programming and initiatives, Executive Director Darla Otey recently sponsored a “Women in Leadership Power Panel” to encourage and inspire women in the community in early or in-transition business careers. Each panelist offered an overview of their roles and responsibilities. They all spoke to the challenges and realities of sometimes being the sole female among a sea of men in the business world. Chatterton pointed out that women still only make up 21 percent of business executives.
Girls Inc of Pinellas is seeking donated artwork from local artists who wish to give back by donating a selected piece of art for inclusion in a virtual fundraiser via an Online Auction that will go live each month with a new piece of art. The organization is happy to include information about the artist to accompany the art. Since this is an ongoing monthly virtual auction, a deadline does not apply As long as Girls Inc of Pinellas is receiving the donated art, the monthly auctions will continue on! The Rays Baseball Foundation and Rowdies Soccer Fund Donate $5,000 to Girls Inc of Pinellas for Covid-19 Relief
Girls Inc of Pinellas was selected to receive a COVID-19 Relief Grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Rays Baseball Foundation and Rowdies Soccer Fund.
Because of this support, the organization is better equipped to positively and effectively impact our community’s most critical needs, especially as it pertains to families of essential workers.
