$15,000 Grant from Coca Cola Goes to Girls Inc of Pinellas
Pinellas Park, FL (December 13, 2021) Girls Inc of Pinellas has received a $15,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation to support their Full STEAM Ahead program.
Girls Inc.’s Full STEAM Ahead! Afterschool Programming is designed to inspire girls to pursue leadership roles in STEAM-focused fields. Each week of the programming is focused on a specific area of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics). Girls Inc collaborates with local industry leaders for this after school programming. Girls have experiential learning opportunities that include training in our Girls Inc STEAM-focused curriculum, completing full projects from inception to prototype, meeting leaders in their field of interest and gain understanding of what a day in the life of’ a leader in the STEAM industries is like. From this year’s marine biology themed summer camp to next year’s aviation and aeronautics themed spring break camp, Girls Inc of Pinellas introduces girls to careers some young women have never considered for themselves.
The Coca-Cola Company is committed to giving back 1% of its prior year’s operating income annually. In 2020, they contributed more than $186 million – more than any previous year to directly benefit some 432 organizations across 154 countries and territories. Contributions include $139 million from The Coca-Cola Foundation and $47 million from The Coca-Cola Company.
Girls Inc of Pinellas is the leading non-profit that inspires and benefits 500 girls annually through services designed to teach all girls to be strong, smart, and bold “Education for girls in science, technology, engineering and math is paramount at an early age,” said Darla Otey, executive director of Girls Inc. Pinellas. “The donation from the Coca-Cola Foundation will enable life-changing programs and experiences that have the potential to shape the future of so many young minds.”
