Girls Inc. of Pinellas STEAM Programming Concludes their Second Week Strong, Featuring Tampa Powerhouse, TECH DATA

Pinellas Park, FL (October 2020) – Girls Inc. of Pinellas wrapped up their second week of STEAM Programming with sponsor Tech Data. Tech Data is one of the largest Tampa Bay employers, is ranked No. 90 on the Fortune 500® list and has been named one of Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies for 11 straight years.

Rachel Rovegno, Cisco Security at Tech Data’s Vendor Business Executive, led the week’s virtual programming during which the girls learned about the fascinating world of cybersecurity. The girls learned about the significance and relevancy of cybersecurity from one of the experts in the field, opening their eyes to a field and opportunities they did not know existed. Rachel kept it age appropriate, interactive and engaging. The week ended with a game of Cybersecurity Jeopardy to test the girls’ new knowledge.

 Throughout the 10 weeks of the Full STEAM Ahead! program, girls will have experiential learning opportunities that include:

  • Training in our Girls Inc STEAM-focused curriculum
  • Completing a full project from inception to prototype
  • Meeting leaders in their field of interest and gain understanding of what a day in the life of’ a leader in the STEAM industries is like

The Full STEAM Ahead! programming is available for Pinellas county girls in Kindergarten through 12th grades and includes 10 weeks of dedicated after school programming designed to inspire girls to pursue leadership roles in STEAM-focused fields.
